Blue Twirls

I learnt this design during training and it consumes a whole lot of time.
It's the first time I'm making it in about a year or so.
I completed it last night just before the power-generator went off.
I took the pictures in the dark.
Thank GOD for mobile phones, camera flash and Picasa

Illusion Crystals

My sister wanted Cocoa Krystals for Xmas but some of the beads I used to make the design are no longer in the market.

I used some left-over beads to create this illusion design for her instead.

Amber Waves

Amber Waves is not my design, I helped a client re-string the beads.

The Madness of Robbers.,

These past weeks have been very hard for me.
My cousin and her husband were brutally murdered in their homes by armed robbers.
She is survived by her 2month old child.
They were married for 8months.
It's been very difficult times.....

Blue Petals

Hey!

I made 3sets of Blue Petals.

I used blue cat-eyes beads and dark-blue crystal beads.

My goldsmith almost ruined everything, but thank goodness for alternatives.

It's a lesson: Nobody's Indispensable. Nobody's too good to be replaced!

Holding On!

Hello All!
Hope you had a fab weekend!!
My weekend was great but so far, I've had a hectic week.
My memory card is corrupted, which means all the pictures in it are not accessible.
And I told 'that my aburo' that I was wary about buying the card @ Computer Village.
It's not his fault though, I should have insisted on getting it from a recognised store.
I'm kicking up a fuss but I doubt I'll get my money back/a replacement card.
*Sigh*
My camera has a built-in memoryof 56k or so i think and that's barely up to 10pics.
I will rise above this situation no matter what!
I almost fell behind schedule on this week's schedule as my goldsmith did a disappearing act with some of my accessories.
Luckily, someone recommended another goldsmith.
Iwill survive oh.
Lastly, can someone help PHCN?
Living without electricity is grievious!!!
My generator has worked overtime and it's now due for servicing

Coral Dews

I have finished working with the coral chips and here's what I made.

Mosieur Blogger, please let me know if you like it.

I should be done by tomorrow.

I'm hoping to complete work on the blue crystals this morning so I can start working on Peach Seeds and deliver tomorrow.

The free bead is ready but I want my customer to see it first(lol).

It's made from a bead-weaving technique called: Princess design.

I'm sure he'ld like it.

I usually edit my pictures with Picasa, but could anyone suggest a better picture editing tool please?
Cheerio!

Still @ Work

Hello everyone and how do you do?

I have been busy sourcing the materials I need for this week's jobs.

Traffic has been hectic as is normal in Lagos, Nigeria and there's been 2 - 3 hours of electricity daily, usually at night.

But who am i to complain? (Sigh)

I am currently working on two of Monsieur Blogger's orders.

I am working with a mixture of peach and red coral chips for the first set and blue crystals for the second set.

I am absolutely in love with the coral piece: it's beautiful.

I'll put up the pictures as soon as I'm done.

I'm also re-stringing a set of beads for a female blogger!

I'm quite impressed with you bloggers already.

These are pictures of the beads i'm currently working with:

Blue Bubbles

Blue bubbles was made from two shades of blue crystals: Royal blue and Powder Blue.
The accessories are silver-plated and should not be used with harsh or medicinal body creams.
The chain and bracelet are in 3-layers while the earrings were made with a weaving technique.

Pearly Dews

I am sorry, I didnt realise I took the pictures with just one earring and I delivered the 6strands to the bride last night.
Almost 70 inches long, it can be worn in a variety of ways, three of which are shown in the pictures.

Coral Knot

I'm still working on it as you can see from the strings of monfilamentfloating around.
I'm yet to finish the bracelet and earrings.
The materials I used are coral beads and gold-filled balls and clasps.
14 strands of coral gone and I'm still working.....

My USB cable

I cant find the USB Cable that came with my camera and I've looked everywhere!
I'm still searching though, fingers crossed.
Thanks for all your kind comments.
Beading's been hectic this week.
I've been working on a weaving technique since Tuesday.
I'll post pictures as soon as I find the silly cord.

Cocoa Krystals

Cocoa Krystals

Meet Cocoa Kystals.
I made this bead a long time ago and it's the first of my beads that I ever dared to wear.
Many of the others were bought off my neck but I've never been able to let go of this one, it's like my 'good karma'.
It does have some flaws but I've never re-stringed it because it's my baby and I wear it once, twice/ thrice a week or even more (lol).
Can you make out any of the flaws?

Peach Bloom, More Orders

Last night, I met the client that requested for Peach Bloom @ one of the Mr Biggs outlets on the Mainland.
She was on her way home from work and there were two friends with her.
I was very glad that she liked it and she called it: 'Classic'
She asked me to make two more for her sister and her mum against next week.
Mmmh, there's elegance in simplicity!
Her two friends also requested for my contact details, fingers crossed and knees glued to the floor, I hope to hear from them soon.
I've delivered all the orders for this week.
I'm re-stringing some beads next week and making 6long strand of pearls for someone's bridal train.
Have a good weekend all!

Beads Christening

I decided to assign names to my beads so as not to get us confused.
I won’t let my imagination run too wild with the names, but if I do, please pardon me…
So the design on my 1st post has been christened: Peach Seeds.
Seeds signify a new beginning….

Pink Bubbles, Sunshine Blues & Peach Bloom

Give me a moment to moan about Electricity.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Okay, that felt good(lol).

I have been using the standby power generator all day as there's been no electricity since about 700am and I've just returned from the filling station with 25litres of fuel for the weekend or some part of it and still, there's no electricity.

I have completed the two orders and delivered one.

Pink Bubbles

The first one, which has been christened Pink Bubbles, is in ‘Baby Pink’ and it was made for a very close friend.

It’s in two layers and I made the earrings with a beadweaving technique.

She loved it and even posed for a photo (lol).

Sunshine Blues

The second order, Sunshine Blues took a while but I love the end result.

It's in Blue and Yellow, and matches the client's asooke (headtie).

I had to knot it in order to take the picture, so that knot isn't part of the design, it doesnt look too bad though.

Peach Bloom

And a third order!

Yesterday's client was ecstatic when I delivered her order(Peach Seeds)

She was with a friend who wanted an exact replica for their party on Saturday.

I told her I could make something else in time for Saturday but a replica of Peach Seeds might not be available till Saturday afternoon/evening as I'm working on some orders.

She said she'ld think about it and she called me back later to give me a go-ahead.

So here's Peach Bloom: mature and simple!

The Beads Factor is Here!!!!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to The Beads Factor!!!!
I'm tremendously happy that I'm starting my blog today! Yippee!!
Yesterday was my brother's birthday so I'll remember to celebrate this day yearly and possibly give out some goodies!
I hope I'll be able to post hourly (pray, noooo) but I'll be putting up posts as frequently as I can.

I just completed this beautiful piece for one of my dedicated customers and I'm so fagged out as I had to use some tiny seed beads.
I have two orders to complete before Saturday and I hope I can finish them tonight so I can give my husband some TLC tomorrow.
I started beading as a hobby and when people kept complimenting my works, I decided to earn some money with my creativity.
My first clients were of course my sisters and then friends, friends of friends, neighbours and neighbours' friends and family and I am happy and thriving.

I work from the comfort of my living room.
Gosh! I feel like I'm writing my mini-biography! (lol)
I started this blog is because I lost pictures of ALL my saved finished works because a virus attacked my laptop viciously and mercilessly.
Sadly, I never created a back-up despite several prompts from my laptop.
I've bought myself a stack of CDs now and I hope I never make this mistake again...........
I've also invested in a 512kb memory card for my camera so I wont have to delete my pictures too often.

I got the inspiration for the name: 'The Beads Factor' from someone's Tshirt (faith factor) and not from Simon Cowell's X-Factor!

I'm also hoping to enjoy the patronage of Nigerian Bloggers, as a close friend of mine (Name Withheld) is also a keen blogger and she suggested this idea of blogging.
I hope to offer you Beautifully Made Beading Products @ Excellent Prices.
24-48hours Home Delivery Services are also Available on Request and guaranteed within Lagos (& for 2weeks in December in London).
Your Confidentiality is Guaranteed!!!
I can also re-string your 'archived' beads into new designs; beads are too precious to be thrown away.
Lastly, bead-making lessons are also available.

I'm off to introduce myself to as many Nigerian bloggers as I can.
It'll be nice to read from you and I offer you bumper discounts off my prices....for a while (lol)
